Ladies and Gentlemen! Details about Navy League Charleston’s August luncheon are…
On Tuesday, 02 August, at 11:30AM, we are pleased to host Christopher Downey, Vessel Planning Manager for Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) USA. In addition to telling us of his daily ‘chores’ overseeing the ship locations of the world’s 2nd largest container fleet, Chris will be sharing some of his avocation as a casual historian of pirates and piracy from the Golden Age to present day. He’ll share very interesting details and insights into the lives and likes of people linked directly to Charleston and her vibrant history as a maritime center … people including Stede Bonnet, the ‘Gentleman Pirate’ and Edward ‘Blackbeard’ Teach as well as the famed pirate hunter and statesman William Rhett.
